Opportunity Information: Apply for P25AS00489

The FY2025 Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Fund (ESHPF) grant program offers $48 million in funding to support recovery and preservation of historic and cultural resources impacted by natural disasters in 2023 and/or 2024. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, nonprofits, educational institutions, and federally recognized Tribes and Native organizations, provided the damaged resources are located within areas declared as major disaster zones under the Stafford Act.

Grants are competitive and require no non-federal match. There are two distinct opportunities under this program: - Opportunity P25AS00257: For State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices to complete compliance tasks or non-construction projects such as surveys or planning within their disaster-affected jurisdictions. - Opportunity P25AS00489: For a wider group of eligible applicants (including local governments and nonprofits) to undertake physical preservation or reconstruction projects on properties with documented disaster-related damage.

To qualify, properties must either be listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, a Tribal equivalent register, or recognized as a National Historic Landmark. If not already listed, they must be listed by the end of the grant period. Properties owned or leased by the federal government are not eligible.

Applicants working on multiple sites should submit a single application including documentation for each location. Verification of disaster-declared areas should be cross-checked using FEMA’s disaster declaration list or the provided interactive map.
